Another great way to establish ethos is to pay close attention to your spelling, grammar, punctuation, and sentence structure. Writing well is a skill that anyone can learn, but even the simplest of things like choosing a comma versus a semi-colon can have a big impact on the way you communicate your ideas and your audience's ability to understand them. Every class I took at UALR allowed me to practice good grammar and encouraged me to make smart, impactful word and sentence choices.
This exercise used the re-telling of a childhood memory to analyze how word choice and sentence structure/length impacts the rhythm and impact of a piece of writing.
